Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Bare Bones Books' bookkeeping platform and services (the "Service"). By connecting your QuickBooks Online account or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms.

The Service

Bare Bones Books provides limited-support, AI-assisted bookkeeping services for Alberta sole proprietors and small businesses. The Service connects to your QuickBooks Online account, with your explicit authorization, to read and update your financial data as part of delivering bookkeeping work (transaction categorization, reconciliation, and financial reporting).

Your Responsibilities

You are responsible for the accuracy of information you provide to us, for maintaining the security of your own QuickBooks Online credentials, and for reviewing bookkeeping output we provide. You may disconnect our access to your QuickBooks Online account at any time.

AI-Assisted Work

Portions of our bookkeeping work are performed with the assistance of AI tools. While we take reasonable steps to review AI-assisted output for accuracy, you should review financial reports and categorizations we provide and notify us promptly of any discrepancy.

Fees

Fees for the Service are set out in your service agreement with Bare Bones Books, separate from these Terms. Continued use of the Service after fees are due constitutes acknowledgment of the applicable fee arrangement.

Data & Privacy

Our collection and use of your information is governed by our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms.

Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is." While we work to provide accurate bookkeeping support, we do not guarantee that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free, and bookkeeping output should be reviewed by you or your accountant before being relied upon for tax filing or other regulatory purposes.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Bare Bones Books' liability arising from your use of the Service is limited to the fees paid by you for the Service in the three months preceding the claim.

Termination

Either party may terminate the Service at any time. Upon termination, we will disconnect access to your QuickBooks Online account and retain your data only as required under our Privacy Policy and applicable law.

Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Alberta and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated to active clients directly.
